An audio and multimedia guide by Carpe Berlin an the University of Applied Sciences (HTW Berlin)
for an alternative city experience.
The special: It is a contextsensitive audio and multimedia guide for the iPhone particularly suitable for sightless and partially sighted people.
A combination of different sensors (such as GPS, acceleration, touch etc.) is used to minimize user inputs and make the handling nearly barrier-free.
„Barrierefrei sind [...] Systeme der Informationsverarbeitung [...], wenn sie für behinderte Menschen in der allgemein üblichen Weise, ohne besondere Erschwernis und grundsätzlich ohne fremde Hilfe zugänglich und nutzbar sind.“
(§4 Gesetz zur Gleichstellung behinderter Menschen)
The CarpeGuide is characterised by an easy handling as well as an unassisted execution. A short introduction teaches the user how to achieve the alternative control possibilities of CarpeGuide on his iPhone.
The principle of that audio and multimedia guide is as easy as smart. The user only has to turn on his iPhone, launch the CarpeGuide app and he'll automatically be provided with available audio files. That is possible as the application determines the GPS position of the user to localize audio files in the near of the user.
